Femme Tonic Herbal Tea recipe on MOMAROMAs

Femme Tonic Herbal Tea

As we are in the thick of Leo Season with the last Supermoon of the year occurring tonight, I thought it appropriate to share the herbal tea blend I have been enjoying recently. The featured herb in this tea is Motherwort, whose botanical name, Leonurus cardaica, means Lion-Hearted.

This tea blend provides herbal support in a cup for mature, do-anything-for-everyone, overachieving women! This herbal tea features Motherwort, Rose, Nettle, and other supportive herbs.

Make Femme Tonic Herbal Tea

Combine herbs with up to 3 cups cool water in sauce pan. Bring slowly to a boil. Cover to retain the therapeutic volatile oils and remove from heat. Steep for up to 30 minutes. Strain through coffee filter, pressing the remaining liquid goodness out of the herbs. Drink hot or chilled for all around support or pure enjoyment!

If you want to brew Femme Tonic a cup at a time, combine all the herbs in a small jar and stir well, then measure out about 1 1/2 teaspoons into a tea bag or tea strainer and steep in your favorite mug. I use these drawstring tea bags, which I love for smaller batches of brewed herbs, especially the finer herbs, like Tulsi.

Why These Herbs?

When I started working on this recipe it was because I wanted to make a tea with Motherwort (literally “Mother’s herb”) which is an extremely bitter herb. While not pleasant to the taste, the bitterness of an herb is indicative of its therapeutic value. So, I wanted to harness that therapeutic nature in a blend of herbs that supported the mature woman and tasted good without having to rely on a sweetener. This blend of herbs was the deliciously delicate result.
