Because this is one of my Seasonal Scents favorites, I make Autumn Spice as a stock bottle so I have enough to diffuse throughout the season.

Get Stock Bottle Drop Counts

Here are the drop counts for a 5ml essential oil bottle. This will hold about 100 drops of essential oil (depending on the viscosity of the oil and the size of the reducer orifice).

Add your drops directly to the essential oil bottle. Then insert the reducer and cap tightly. Finally roll the bottle between the palms of your hands for at least 30 seconds. This allows the oils to fully blend with each other and it imparts a bit of your energy to the blend.

And remember: Affix a label right away!

Autumn Spice Stock Bottle

  • 32 drops Sweet Orange essential oil (Citrus x sinensis)
  • 16 drops Clove Bud essential oil (Eugenia caryophyllata)
  • 16 drops Cinnamon bark essential oil (Cinnamomum cassia/C. zeylanicum)
  • 8 drops Ginger CO2 or distilled Ginger essential oil (Zingiber officinale)
  • 8 drops Copaiba balsam essential oil (Copaifera officinalis/C. langsdorffii)

Aromatic Energetics of Autumn Spice

I’m fairly certain I don’t need to describe the aromatics of this classic seasonal blend of citrus and spices! While Autumn Spice certainly has seasonal aromatic appeal, for me it’s also about energetics.

Sweet Orange (Citrus x sinensis)

Sweet Orange fruit; the essential oil is cold pressed from the peel

Pressed from the peel, Sweet Orange essential oil, is fresh and uplifting. Together with Clove, it adds that traditional Pomander aroma to an Autumn Spice blend. Sweet Orange circulates stagnant energy and soothes feelings of stress.

Sweet Orange essential oil is very rich in uplifting, immune-supporting d-limonene.

Clove Bud (Eugenia caryophyllata)

Clove essential oil is distilled from the tiny buds picked just before opening and allowed to dry. It can take a clove tree at least 5 years to produce flowers, so is it any wonder that the aroma of clove buds fosters tenacity, confidence, and self-assuredness?

Cinnamon Bark (Cinnamomum cassia/C. zeylanicum)

Hand-stripped from a 3-5 year old tree, the Cinnamon Bark is then steam distilled to access the essential oil. The aroma of cinnamon is known worldwide to be spiritually and emotionally cleansing and stabilizing.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale)

Ginger essential oils, fresh ginger root.

Ginger essential oil is made from young rhizomes (horizontal stems that grow underground) which are carefully harvested to avoid damage to the plant and the rhizomes—damage to the rhizome results in loss of those lovely volatile oils.

Ginger CO2 essential oil is spicy, while distilled Ginger essential oil has a sweeter, fresher aroma. Both gingers are energizing and motivating. I encourage you to use the one that most appeals to your senses.

Copaiba Balsam (Copaifera officinalis or C. langsdorffii)

The essential oil of Copaiba Balsam is actually a resin that has a warm sweet aroma, with a touch of pepper. Copaiba brings an energetically grounding depth to this citrusy-spicy blend.

☀️Research Spotlight: Essential Oils Are More Than Aroma

In addition to providing energetic support, all of the oils in Autumn Spice contain phytochemicals, such as d-limonene, cinnamaldehyde, eugenol, and β-caryophyllene, which help support our immune systems and cleanse the air.

According to the results of a 2006 in-vitro study, Orange, Clove, and Cinnamon essential oils, among others, showed strong antibacterial effect against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. In the study Cinnamon outperformed all oils evaluated, and Clove came in second.(1)

A 2020 review evaluated using Ginger essential oil as an alternative to chemical and potentially toxic pesticides in agricultural disease management by harnessing its natural anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. The study proposes using Ginger essential oil along with nanotechnology to support sustainable, effective, and environmentally friendly crop protection.(2)

Autumn Spice is one of my favorite blends to diffuse during cold and flu season or anytime someone in my family has a cold. It’s also really great for making a room spray, like in this Chai Spice Room Spray!
