Make inhalers for your whole family and have enough to diffuse, too, by making a stock bottle of Happiness Synergy.

If you want to make a Happiness Synergy inhaler, I recommend using the reusable inhalers from Plant Therapy (Direct and Amazon) or Aromatics International, as this will be one you will want to refresh!

Get Stock Bottle Drop Counts

Here are the drop counts for a 5ml essential oil bottle. This will hold about 100 drops of essential oil (depending on the viscosity of the oil and the size of the reducer orifice).

Add your drops directly to the essential oil bottle. Then insert the reducer and cap tightly. Finally roll the bottle between the palms of your hands for at least 30 seconds. This allows the oils to fully blend with each other and it imparts a bit of your energy to the blend.

And remember: Affix a label right away!

Happiness Synergy Stock Bottle

  • 20 drops May Chang essential oil (Listea cubeba)
  • 20 drops Black Pepper essential oil (Piper nigrum)
  • 20 drops Ho Wood essential oil (Cinnamomum camphora ct linalool)

Why These Essential Oils?

I choose the essential oils in Happiness Synergy specifically for their chemical composition. When it comes to creating a chemically synergistic blend, even very small amounts matter. [I’ve indicated very small amounts (less than 0.5%) with “tr” below.]

Joyful Clementine and bright May Chang are the star essential oils of this blend, as they contain all of my targeted “feel good” phytochemicals (plant chemicals):

  • d-Limonene
  • Linalool
  • Ξ²-Myrcene
  • Citral
  • Pinenes
  • Sabinene

Essential Oils: Constituents of Happiness

Note how the Star essential oils touch all of the targeted phytochemicals

d-Limonene

Known to be energetically revitalizing, uplifting, and anxiety-reducing, d-limonene occurs in significant amounts in Clementine, Black Pepper, and May Chang. d-Limonene is the blend’s predominant chemical constituent.

d-Limonene occurs in all FIVE of the essential oils in Happiness Synergy: Clementine, May Chang, Black Pepper, Clary Sage, and Ho Wood (tr).

Linalool

Comprising over 97% of Ho Wood, linalool is known for its calming, anxiety-reducing nature and antimicrobial properties.

Linalool also occurs in all FIVE of the essential oils: Ho Wood, Clary Sage, Black Pepper (tr), Clementine (tr), and May Chang (tr).

Ξ²-Myrcene

A handful of hops, an herb rich in Ξ²-myrcene

Contributing a pleasant earthy aroma to essential oils, Ξ²-myrcene is also responsible for the “green hoppy” aroma of beer. Ξ²-myrcene contributes to the grounding energy of Happiness Synergy.

It occurs in small amounts in all FIVE of the essential oils: Black Pepper, Clary Sage, Clementine, May Chang (tr), and Ho Wood (tr).

Citral (Neral + Geranial)

Citral is actually comprised of two mirror image molecules, neral and geranial, that are linked by a double bond. May Chang contains over 70% citral. Despite citral’s sharp lemony aroma, May Chang provides an uplifting yet calming influence on the psyche.

Citral occurs in THREE of the essential oils: May Chang, Clementine (tr), and Clary Sage (tr)

Pinenes

The pinenes, Ξ±-pinene and Ξ²-pinene, are energizing, memory enhancing phytochemicals. As the name suggests, pinenes contribute a fresh, green, piney aroma to essential oils. I call pinenes “happiness makers!”

In Happiness Synergy, pinenes occur in THREE of the essential oils: Black Pepper, May Chang, and Clementine.

Sabinene

Sabinene has a warming, uplifting energy and a spicy, woodsy aroma. FOUR of the essential oils in Happiness Synergy contain small amounts of sabinene. Clementine, Black Pepper (tr), May Chang (tr), and Clary Sage (tr)

With the chemical constituents occurring in multiple essential oils, each oil works with the others to produce a synergy. This creates a blend that is highly effective at reducing feelings of anxiety and promoting positive energy.

The aroma of Happiness Synergy is fresh and warm. It encourages deep breathing to release built up tension.

β˜€οΈResearch Spotlight: (Forest) Bathing in Terpenes

Forest air is rich in volatile organic compounds (VOCs), especially in forests full of conifers. The majority of these VOCs are the chemical constituents called monoterpenes. These include d-limonene, Ξ±-pinene, Ξ²-pinene, Ξ²-myrcene, and sabinene.

As with essential oil diffusion, forest VOCs are inhaled and passed into the body’s blood supply though the lungs. In this 2020 research review, the authors explain how inhalation of forest VOCs has a positive impact on stress and anxiety levels, reduces mental fatigue, and enhances mood, brain, and immune function.(1)

Dr Qing Li is the world’s expert in the study and promotion of the benefits of the Japanese art and science of shinrin-yoku. Learn how connecting with Nature, even in a small way, impacts our well being in his beautifully written and illustrated book Forest Bathing.

“(Shinrin-yoku) is simply being in nature, connecting with it through our sense of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch.”(2)
