Foot Care = Self Care

Our feet are often overlooked when it comes to self careโ€”unfortunate, since they take such a beating.

In fact, if you walk an average of 7,500 steps per day you will take 2,737,500 steps in one year! If you keep up that pace, in just over 19 years you will have walked around the world! Now that’s a lot of pressure on our feet! (And that’s a lot of exclamation points. But I’m making a point here!)

The point is: Isn’t it time we paid some attention to our feet with some natural TLC?

Herbs & Salt Foot Care Soak

Using Herbs & Salt Foot Soak

Choose a place to relax. Ensure your feet can comfortably reach the floor. Collect a nice fluffy towel and a good book or journal or just use this time to sit back and relax. This self care time is all about you and your feet!

Fill a foot tub with very warm, not hot, water. Add 2 mounded Tablespoons of Herbs & Salt Foot Soak to the water.

If desired, add a cup of apple cider vinegar (ACV) to the water. ACV works wonderfully with the Herbs & Salt Foot Soak to help soften skin, soothe itching, and neutralize foot odor.

Sit comfortably and test the water with the ball of your foot. The water should be comfortably warm, not uncomfortably hot. If it’s too hot, wait a few minutes. Slowly lower your feet into the foot bath and stir the water around a bit to help the salt dissolve.

Relax for 15-20 minutes. Let the warmth penetrate your feet and ease the stress of the day.

For extra self care, place several small round pebbles or marbles into the foot bath. Roll your feet over them as you soak and relax. Or choose a foot bath that has massage bumps built in.

Optional: Foot Care Scrub

If desired, incorporate a gentle exfoliating scrub, like a Brown Sugar Scrub, into your foot care regimen. After you’ve soaked for as long as you like, apply a small amount of scrub to each foot. Scrub gently over heels and sides of your feet. (Another option is a wet pumice stone.)

After each foot is scrubbed, return it to the foot bath for a rinse.

When you’re done soaking, pat your feet dry. Ensure between your toes, especially, is dry. Then wrap up your foot care with a moisturizer or foot massage oil/cream. (Foot Massage post coming soon!)

It’s amazing how much impact an herbal salt foot soak can have on our well being, right?! I hope you enjoy yours and make it a regular part of your self care routine.
