I received The Carrier Oil Palette as a gift last year. The excellent book became my bedtime reading over the nights that followed. Although I’ve been working with lipid plant oils for many years, I looked forward to picking up this book each night. In fact, I read it cover to cover—often staying up well beyond my bedtime!

Don’t be fooled by the title, The Carrier Oil Palette contains more than just carrier oil profiles! You’ll also find information on various production methods, lipid oil chemistry, and the components of lipid plant extracts. And you’ll get a crash course in skin anatomy and how these nourishing oils help support skin barrier function.
The Carrier Oil Palette provides detailed profiles on 26 carrier oils, 7 herbal oils, and 10 butters. Information provided in the plant extract profiles includes:
- botanical data
- plant description
- ethnobotanical and historical uses
- fatty acid profile + pie charts (like mine for Pomegranate Seed Oil)

One of the aspects I appreciate is the inclusion of the full color photographs that accompany each of the oil profiles.
