Essential Oils to Help You Let the Sun Set on Negativity
Recently I’ve been dealing with a growing negative energy in and around a family member. And, so, I’ve turned to Frankincense essential oils and resin to support my emotional healing, cleansing, and positive energy.
Today we’re creating a powerfully supportive, yet luxurious, roll-on blend featuring Frankincense sacra, Rosewood, and Neroli essential oils in Jojoba. We’ll enhance the blend with shards of Black Tourmaline and tears of Frankincense resin. This combination offers a synergy of aromatic and energetic properties that supports both physical and emotional well-being. It helps release tension and lets the sun set on negativity.

About the Essential Oils
Frankincense sacra (Boswellia sacra)
Frankincense sacra is one of the most revered of the Frankincense resins. Its been used for centuries in spiritual and medicinal practices across various cultures. Frankincense sacra is also called Royal Hojari and Omani Frankincense.
Aromatic Profile: This Frankincense essential oil has a deeply balsamic aroma with sweet citrus or green apple-like notes. Its scent is often described as warm, rich, and slightly spicy. To me Frankincense sacra essential oil has a “spiced cookie” aroma.
Energetic Properties:
- Grounding and Centering. Frankincense essential oil is known for its ability to create a sense of rootedness and stability.
- Spiritual Connection. It’s often used in meditation practices to enhance spiritual awareness and deepen one’s connection to the divine.
- Emotional Balance. It can help calm anxious thoughts and promote a sense of inner peace.
- Mental Clarity. It can improve focus and concentration.
- Cleansing. Frankincense sacra is thought to dispel evil spirits.
For a little extra support from Frankincense, I decided to add a few tears of this Frankincense carteri resin to my roller bottle.
Substitution: Although it has a spicier, more peppery aroma than Frankincense sacra, Frankincense carteri (Boswellia carteri) is also spiritually mending, making it a suitable replacement.
Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora ducke)
Rosewood essential oil is prized for its sweet, woody aroma and numerous therapeutic properties. You might find Rosewood essential oil under the name “Bois de Rose.”
Aromatic Profile: Rosewood essential oil has a warm, sweet, woody scent with subtle floral undertones.
Energetic Properties:
- Heart Opening. Rosewood is associated with opening the heart chakra, promoting love and compassion.
- Emotional Healing. It helps heal emotional wounds and promote self-love.
- Stress Relief. Its aroma can have a calming effect on the nervous system.
- Creativity Boost. It stimulates creativity and inspiration.
- Headache Relief. Some people find relief from tension headaches when using Rosewood essential oil.
💚Special Note: Rosewood is listed on the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) list. This makes it vital to source the essential oil from a supplier who works directly with a distiller who uses sustainable harvesting practices—like Aromatics International.
Substitution: If you do not have access to sustainably sourced Rosewood essential oil, a suitable alternative is Ho Wood (Cinnamomum camphora ct linalool).
Neroli (Citrus x aurantium var amara)
Neroli essential oil is distilled from the blossoms of the Bitter Orange (Citrus aurantium). It’s known for its exquisite fragrance and potent therapeutic properties.
Aromatic Profile: Neroli essential oil has a complex floral aroma with subtle citrus and peppery notes. You’ll need very little of this powerfully aromatic essential oil in a blend!
Energetic Properties:
- Emotional Support. Neroli essential oil is renowned for its ability to uplift mood and ease anxiety.
- Opening. Its energetics help open the mind to promote acceptance and positive energy.
- Self-Confidence. It boosts self-esteem and promotes a positive self-image.
- Stress Relief. Inhaling the aroma of Neroli helps reduce stress and promotes relaxation.
- Sleep Aid. The essential oil’s calming properties may help improve sleep quality.
💚Special Note: Neroli essential oil is often adulterated with other less expensive essential oils. Choose a supplier who works directly with the distillers of this precious essential oil. (Learn more about what to look for in an essential oil supplier.)
Substitutions: Due to the expense of Neroli essential oil, you may want to replace with Neroli/Petitgrain essential oil, which is distilled from the flowers and leaves of the Bitter Orange tree. Another option is to eliminate the Neroli essential oil and replace part of the carrier portion of the blend with Neroli infused Jojoba.
About Black Tourmaline
After chatting about the situation with a friend, they recommended placing a protective ring of Black Tourmaline around my home and carrying a small piece with my everywhere.
Black Tourmaline is a powerful grounding and protective stone, making it an excellent addition to this aromatherapy blend.
Energetic Properties:
- Grounding. Tourmaline helps connect you to the Earth’s energy, promoting a sense of stability.
- Protection. It creates a protective shield against negative energies.
- Stress Relief. It helps dispel negative thoughts, which reduces anxiety.
Before adding the Black Tourmaline chips to my roller bottle, I “washed” them in Frankincense resin incense smoke, allowing the smoke to envelope them. I also took advantage of the full moon and gave my entire roll-on a cleansing moon bath.
The Synergy of the Blend
When combined, these elements create a powerful synergy that can address various aspects of well-being:
- Emotional Balance. The calming properties of Frankincense essential oil, the heart-opening qualities of Rosewood essential oil, and the mood-lifting effects of Neroli essential oil work together to create emotional harmony.
- Stress Relief. All essential oils in this blend have stress-relieving properties, making it an excellent tool for managing stress and anxiety.
- Spiritual Growth. Frankincense’s spiritual qualities, combined with Black Tourmaline’s grounding energy, support meditation and spiritual practices.
- Energy Protection. Black Tourmaline’s protective qualities, enhanced by the grounding nature of Frankincense essential oil, create an energetic shield against negative influences.
- Mental Clarity. Frankincense’s ability to improve focus, combined with Rosewood’s creativity-boosting properties, can help enhance mental performance.
