Making Your Chai Spice Essential Oil Blend
Make the Chai Spice (Latte) essential oil blend in a small bottle—I like to repurpose an empty, clean essential oil bottle when a recipe has too many drops for my diffuser. Use 5-7 drops of Chai Spice (Latte) per 100ml water. Shake gently before dispensing drops into diffuser.
Then when you know you want to make more, make your stock blend in the same essential oil bottle. Use the drop counts provided in the drop-down below to make either the Chai Spice or Chai Spice Latte essential oil blend.
Stock Bottle Drop Counts
Here are the drop counts for a 5ml essential oil bottle. This will hold about 100 drops of essential oil (depending on the viscosity of the oil and the size of the reducer orifice).
Add your drops directly to the essential oil bottle. Then insert the reducer and cap tightly. Finally roll the bottle between the palms of your hands. This allows the oils to fully blend with each other and it imparts a bit of your energy to the blend.
And remember: affix a label right away!

Chai Spice (Latte) Aromatherapy Room Spray Recipe
- 4 oz Spray Bottle
- 1 oz (2 Tablespoons) Everclear or highest proof Vodka (70% Isopropyl Alcohol will do in a pinch, too)
- Distilled Water
- 3x Chai Spice OR 2x Chai Spice Latte essential oil blend
In a 4 oz spray bottle combine alcohol and 3x Chai Spice or 2x Chai Spice Latte essential oil blend.
Cap the bottle. Shake and allow to set for at least 30 minutes.
Remove cap. Add distilled water to the shoulder of the bottle. Recap and shake.
Shake before using as some separation of the essential oils may occur.
💚PRO TIP: To reduce the likelihood of spillage, use a small funnel to add the alcohol and distilled water to the bottle.
Can I Make the Room Spray without Alcohol?
Using alcohol extends the shelf-life of this room spray to 6-9 months (mine never lasts this long, anyway!).
If you choose to omit the alcohol and replace with additional distilled water or any other liquid (including Witch Hazel), the shelf life is much reduced.
Instead of a full 4 oz bottle, make a half (2 oz) or quarter (1 oz) size and discard in 10 days or fewer. Even if you don’t see any change in the appearance of the room spray, ickies could already be growing in just a few days. And who wants to spray that around their home?!
💚Pro Tip: Enhance Your Seasonal Potpourri!
An activity my family loves to do together in the Fall and early Winter is craft natural potpourri.
We collect pinecones and harvest pine tips from fallen branches. We slice apples and oranges and dry them along with any leftover cranberries from holiday Spiced Cranberry Sauce. Then we arrange them with dried spices in wood or glass bowls.
This Chai Spice (Latte) essential oil blend or room spray (alcohol-based) can be sprinkled or sprayed on your natural potpourri. The potpourri acts as a passive diffuser to provide a long lasting gentle seasonal aroma! Refresh as desired.
Wishing you aromatic seasonal cheer!
