⭐️Yuletide Sugar and Spice Sprinkle Recipe

Makes enough for two 4oz spice jars.

Yule Gingerbread Sugar and Spice Sprinkle
  • 1/2 cup (112g) Sugar—I prefer white
  • 1/4 cup (24g) ground Cinnamon
  • 3 teaspoons (12.5g) finely ground Candied Ginger*
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons (3g) ground Ginger
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon (3g) ground Allspice
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon (3g) ground Cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon (3g) ground Nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon (1g) ground Clove
  • 1 Vanilla bean, scraped (optional)**

🌺See my Recommended Suppliers below or head over to my Warming Winter Spices shopping list on Amazon.

*💚PRO TIP 1: Use a dedicated coffee grinder for any herbs you grind. After grinding the candied ginger remove immediately to reduce sticking to the bottom and walls of the grinder. A bit of the sugar added to the ginger can help make it easier to remove.

**💚PRO TIP 2: After scraping the seeds into your sugar, cut the pod into several pieces and combine with 1-2oz of your favorite lipid carrier (like Jojoba or Grapeseed oil) in a jar. Seal tightly and allow to infuse over 4-6 weeks. Shake daily. Then decant and use in lip balm or body oil!

Make Your Sugar and Spice Sprinkle

Add all ingredients to a high-sided bowl and stir well to combine. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to set overnight.

Then filter through a fine mesh sieve into a second bowl. You will find the candied ginger produces tiny clumps. Use a small spoon to swirl and press through the sieve. Stir well to create a cohesive mixture.

Transfer mixture to two small spice jars—a funnel reduces spills! And finally affix a pretty label. (BTW, this makes a lovely handcrafted gift!)
