Awake Essential Oils for Energy and Focus on MOMROMAs

Awaken Your Spirit with Essential Oils for Energy

I love coming up with seasonal aromatherapy blends that support vitality, focus, and general wellness. In the Fall and Spring, I choose gentle essential oils for energy, comfort, and immune support.

The Awake blend I’m sharing here can be used in a diffuser, a room spray, or an aromatherapy inhaler, or you can mix it into an unscented lotion or neutral body oil.

How to Use Awake

Because this blend combines gentle essential oils for energy, it can be used throughout the day in multiple ways. Make a stock bottle of Awake and see which methods work best for you.

Here are the many ways I’ve used Awake to gently support my energy and attention:

  • Diffuser – Add 8-10 drops to 100ml water.
  • Room Spray – In a 4oz spray bottle combine 40-48 drops of Awake with 1oz Everclear (or other high proof alcohol); allow to combine 30-60 min; top with distilled water or hydrosol; shake well before use.
  • Aromatherapy Inhaler – Apply 5-10 drops to inhaler wick; use as needed.
  • Aromatherapy Roll-On – Add 3-6 drops to a 10ml roller bottle and top with Jojoba, Grapeseed, or other favorite lipid carrier oil (this is a 2-3% essential oil concentration); apply to pulse points as needed throughout the day.
  • Lotion, Body Butter, or Body Oil – Combine 6-12 drops of Awake per 1 ounce lotion/butter/oil (this is a 1-2% essential oil concentration); apply body oil and butter after bathing to damp skin; apply lotion as desired shoulders to toes!

💚PRO TIPS!

  • For an “on the road” room spray, decant some of your 4oz spray bottle into a 10ml atomizer.
  • For Aromatherapy Roll-on or Body Oil, consider using an herbal infused oil, such as Lavender, Lemon Balm, or Pine resin.
Stock Bottle Drop Count: Awake

Here are the drop counts for a 5ml essential oil bottle. This will hold about 100 drops of essential oil (depending on the viscosity of the oil and the size of the reducer orifice).

Add your drops directly to the essential oil bottle. Then insert the reducer and cap tightly. Finally roll the bottle between the palms of your hands. This allows the oils to fully blend with each other and it imparts a bit of your energy to the blend.

And remember: affix a label right away!

Why These Essential Oils for Energy?

To me, Fall is a time of gentle quiet as Nature settles in for Winter slumber, its days punctuated by the brightness of changing leaves against a background of evergreens. Spring begins softly and quietly, a gentle green haze followed by pops of early blooming flowers as the days slowly lengthen and warm.

The combination of citrus, herb, and conifer essential oils in Awake creates a sweet, bright, gently revitalizing aroma that’s perfect for these gentler seasons.

When you diffuse Awake, you’ll find the aroma changes over time. At first, it’s sweet and breath-opening. Then the herbaceous basil becomes more present. And finally, you’re left with a refreshing herbal mint.

Grapefruit (Citrus x paradisi)

Pink Grapefruit essential oil is bright with a touch of tartness, like a fresh peeled grapefruit. This aroma of warmer days brings a touch of sparkling Summer to the blend.

Energetically, Grapefruit is uplifting and purifying. With its ability to relieve stagnation, it’s one of the top essential oils for energy activation. It inspires joy and positivity.

Because it’s very rich in d-limonene, Grapefruit essential oil, like the rest of the citrus oils, provides terrific immune support.

Sweet Basil (Ociumum basilicum)

Sweet Basil Leaves

Sweet Basil has a comforting herbaceous aroma. It has gentle clove-like notes which contribute a warm Fall scent to Awake. For me, a whiff of Sweet Basil essential oil is like a warm hug from my Mom.

For mental presence and clarity, Sweet Basil is second only to Rosemary in essential oils for energy and focus. Inhaling Sweet Basil helps clear thinking and opens the mind.

“(Basil) harmonizes the many aspects of the person, allowing the light of the spirit…(to) illuminate the soul.”(1)

Spearmint (Mentha spicata)

I call Spearmint the Gentle Mint. As the “Mother” of spicy Peppermint, Spearmint has a sweet, clean, softer mint aroma than Peppermint.

The mints are special essential oils for energy and alertness. Spearmint gently revitalizes stagnant energy, improves attentiveness, and enhances our ability to absorb new ideas.(2)

💚Spearmint is one of my favorite herbs to include in herbal tea at any time of year.

Black Spruce (Picea mariana)

Black Spruce essential oil is a very gentle breath-opening essential oil. Its green, sweet, fruity aroma encourages deep cleansing breaths that help calm the body and the mind. This beautiful evergreen essential oil provides the piney connection to Winter in Awake.

Many people work long hours in front of a computer screen (raises hand). Using specific essential oils for energy and focus enhancement that also reduce stress response can improve quality of work life. Black Spruce is rich in the phytochemical (plant chemical constituent) bornyl acetate, which, even in small amounts, has been shown to promote mental calm while increasing the ability to focus.(3)

Brighten Mornings with Candlelight

Beeswax Candle in a Jar

During the Fall and Spring months we light a candle each morning and evening. The candlelight adds a warmth and quiet energy to the start and end of each day.

My simple beeswax candle recipe combines pure, natural, aromatic beeswax and organic raw coconut oil for steady, consistent burning.

With the honey-like aroma of the beeswax candle, essential oils aren’t necessary. However, I provide some suggestions if you want to include them. (Go to Handcrafted Beeswax Candle post.)
